Antonio Conte expects his players to retain their focus despite Chelsea being on the verge of winning the title.
A 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on Monday means the Blues are just a win away from the title. They play West Brom on Friday.
It would be easy for the players to crack out the champagne with three games left to secure the three points, but Conte is expecting them to keep their heads down.
‘I think that my players are looking at this situation in the right way,’ said the Chelsea manager.
Conte believes that there is less pressure on his players now than at other stages of the season – and considering they came through that test okay they should be alright.
‘I think that our worst moment was after defeat, to see your opponent [Tottenham] only four points behind was very bad, then we had to play against them in the semi in the FA Cup. I think in that moment we had a lot of pressure.
‘But in that moment my players showed me great commitment, desire and will to overcome this moment and then to try to win the league. I think now the pressure, now is good pressure. A pressure that must bring in our heart excitement.
‘The target is very close. We must have enthusiasm and desire to take this target as we are deserving to win.’
Chelsea won Monday’s match 3-0 thanks to goals from Diego Costa, Marcos Alonso and Nemanja Matic.
The home side were utterly dominant, with a 2-0 lead estabished at half-time and no suggestion that Middlesbrough would get back into it.
