Mr. Olumide Odimayo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State was on Monday found dead in a riverine community in Ese-Odo local government area of the state.
Odimayo, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Thursday, was a prominent leader of the APC in Ese-Odo and the state at large.
His corpse was found near Ogolo River, between Sabomi and Igbotu communities in Ese-Odo.
The APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Prince Abayomi Adesanya, who confirmed the development, said the incident has been reported to the police and is currently under investigation.
Adesanya said the late politician’s corpse was found by local vigilantes, adding that the incident has thrown the party into mourning.
