One Sani Adamu, a 32 -year-old man, is said to have been allegedly stabbed to death following a clash between two factions of vigilantes in Kuje town.
A resident of the area, Yunusa Danjuma, said the clash started on Saturday night after a member of one of the factions went to arrest somebody in the area.
He said the vigilante member, who belonged to Green House Vigilante group, was denied access to carry out the arrest by a member of the Yan Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Vigilante group, the rival faction.
He said the two faction engaged each other in a fight, in which the man that resisted arrest escaped to Anguwar Kayarda to hide.
“The Green House member was chasing the suspect to Anguwar Kayarda area when he stabbed Adamu at a tea joint, mistaking him for the suspect,” Danjuma said.
He said the deceased was immediately rushed to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada, where doctors confirmed him dead.
City News gathered that the death of the deceased, who was the APC secretary for Kuje central ward created tension among the youths in the area.
It was further learnt that an armoured police tank, soldiers and some police men have been deployed to the area, while the main market has been shut down.
When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT police command, ASP Usen Omorodion, confirmed the incident.
He said a combined team of police and soldiers as well as an armoured police tank have been deployed to the scene to avert any further clash.
He said some suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident, adding that investigations are ongoing to unravel circumstances behind the clash.
