A group of suspected cultists have been arrested with human skull by men of Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State command.
Other items recovered from the not less than 12 suspected cultist include; four locally made pistols, two cartridges, seven drums, charms and large quantity of Indian hemp.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Donald Awunah, who made the disclosure in Uyo on tuesday said the breakthrough resulted from the crime reduction strategy, ‘Operation Impact’ he launched few months ago in the State.
The CP confirmed the suspected cultists including seven females were arrested at a location in Ikot Udota community in Eket Local Government Area.
“Information gathered from Ikot Udota community in Eket Division revealed that a group of young men suspected to be cultists numbering about 12 were beating drums, dancing, shouting and shooting guns around the area. They were cordoned and arrested alongside seven female suspects by men from Eket Division”, he said.
During the period, the Commissioner added that another suspect was arrested with locally made pistol and 2.3mm ammunition.

In a separate incident, another suspected cultist, one Idem George Udofia, 25, in company of other gang members, was alleged to have attacked and killed one Anthony Brown, 25, and buried his remains in a swamp at Ikot Inyang Ekop community, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
Awunah also disclosed that the Command has arrested three other suspected cultists alleged to have masterminded the assassination of one Chief Okon Sunday Obonukut and one Saturday Dick Udofia at Okoyo village in Ukanafun Local Government Area over chieftaincy tussle.
“Three men with motorcycle, armed with one AK-47 rifle came to Okoyo village in Ukanafun Local Government Area where they shot and killed one Chief Okon Sunday Obonukut and Saturday Dick Udofia”, he explained.
The arrested suspects, who the CP said had already been charged to Court, include Chief Monday Ndarake Okon, Mr. Emmanuel Marcus Umoh and one Iboro Okon Udoh.
The Police also swoop on one 62-year-old man, Edet Nyong Udofia, from Mbiakong village in Uruan Local Government Area, who the CP said had confessed to have shot and killed his neighbour, one Elsie Justina Emma, with a Dane gun.
The intensification of raids on criminals and their hideouts, according to the CP, have led to the recovery of pistol and three live cartridges from three suspected cultists on motorcycle along Abak Road, while raid on a criminal hideout at Okobo Local Government also led to the recovery of 75 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Other items include two locally made single barrel guns and an Army Camouflage uniform, and the CP has assured no stone would be left unturned in ridding the State of criminal elements.
He urged law-abiding members of the civil society to go about their lawful business without fear, saying the Police was out to confront criminals and their nefarious activities in Akwa Ibom and solicited for information on suspicious characters in various communities.
