Edo State Chapter of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), has called for the immediate sack of the Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Mr Babatunde Fashola, over poor state of Federal Roads in the state.
The chapter Chairman, Mr Roy Oribabhor, made the call in a statement in Benin on Thursday after a meeting of the conference to review the performance of the President Muhammad Buhari’s administration.
The CNPP who expressed worry over state of Federal Roads in Edo, especially the Benin-Auchi-Okene highway and Agbor-Uromi road decried the hardship commuters go through daily on these roads.
Oribhabor who said the Conference was particularly irked with the poor state of the Ehor-Ekpoma session of the highway, noted that the minister has failed in its responsibility to ensure roads are motorable.
He said full commencement of the raining season has not in anyway helped, as several motorists are often left stranded on that session of highway for days.
The Edo CNPP chairman said the poor state of the roads that have led to lost of lives and valuables, have also impacted negatively on the economy live of those that ply the route.
According to him, “Edo CNPP is seriously worried about the deplorable state of our roads especially Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi–Abuja road call for urgent concern.
“The road is very bad and unmotorable, the plight of Nigerians plying the road is demoralizing hence, it has become germane to call for the immediate sack of Minister of works Mr Babatunde Fashola for gross incompetency and abysmal performance in office.
“The records are there to show that his performance in office is below standard therefore, terminating his appointment becomes the panacea to motorists predicaments.
