Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres was quick to send a message to Chelsea fans after discovering he would be back playing at Stamford Bridge this season.
Antonio Conte’s men were handed a difficult group consisting of Atletico Madrid, Roma and Qarabag in the Champions League.
Atletico were one of the toughest second seeds in the competition and the visit of Diego Simeone’s men to Stamford Bridge will see Torres return to his old club.
Torres spent four years in west London after a record-breaking move from Liverpool and he says he’s ‘happy’ to see the club back in Europe’s elite competition.
‘Back at Stamford Bridge for the UEFA Champions League,’ said Torres on Instagram.
‘So happy to see the Blues back at the competition. See you soon Chelsea’
Conte’s men host Everton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and will be hoping to build on their win against Tottenham at Wembley last weekend.
Cesc Fabregas could return to the starting line-up after serving a one-match ban, while Pedro could be fit to stary.
