The Kano State chapter of Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), has cautioned youth to avoid being used by some politicians to cause violence in the state.
The called was contained in a statement signed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Comrade Bashir Bello Roba.
The statement said the call became imperative following the recent political clash between supporters of the state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Gunduje and his predecessor Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso during this year’s famous Hawan Daushe.
The decision to caution the youth was reached at a crucial meeting by principal officers of the association from the 44 local government areas of the state.
The statement added that “it is disheartening to notice how some politicians are taking the advantage of the highly enterprising and industrious Kano youth to get them involved in political thuggery.”
It also called on security agencies to bring to book whoever found guilty in the dastardly act and urged the youth to shun politicians who do not mean well to the state.
“We want to call on our fellow youth to kindly shun politicians who do not mean well to our state. They should also shun away from derogatory statements that can bring anarchy in our communities. It is our duty to ensure that we preach political, religious and ethnic tolerance for peace and tranquility to rein in our nation,” the statement stated.
