Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the President of the Senate, has said the Executive arm of government is more corrupt that the Legislative arm.
Saraki said this on Thursday during a meeting with members of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project on Thursday over the disturbing news that senators earn about N29 million every month.
Saraki, who had invited the leadership of SERAP to a meeting based on the request of the body for the disclosure of what senators earned, rather than addressing the issue and providing the needed figures, said the Executive had more corruption issues than the Legislature.
SERAP, late on Thursday, tweeted on its Twitter handle: “Saraki denies senators receive N3bn yearly, says corruption issues more in the executive.”
But he did not go beyond that.
Prominent lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay, had raised concerns over the salary of the lawmakers.
He said they earn about N29 million monthly and N3 billion yearly.
