Alvaro Morata revealed his shaky start to life at Chelsea made his wife almost kick him out the house.
The Spanish international moved to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in a £65million deal.
But Morata, 24, admitted his stunning misses Alice Campello was getting fed up with the striker after his penalty miss in the Community Shield lost against Arsenal.
Morata said: “Well, I was not really feeling OK after I missed the penalty against Arsenal [in the Community Shield].
“I found the two fays after that really difficult, my wife wanted me to get out of the house.
“But, you need to remain strong at the end of the day.
“We are doing well and that is the most important thing.
“Everything is OK at the moment, it is very important to win the Champions League and now we have a vital game this weekend.”
Things have been on the up for Morata since the miss in August as he has found his goal scoring touch for the Blues.
The former Juventus man is living up to his price-tag after scoring six goals in his last five league starts, including a hat-trick against Stoke.
And Morata admitted he joined Chelsea because boss Antonio Conte was the only one who believed in his ability.
Morata explained: “I came to Chelsea because one club and one coach believed in me.
“Now I have all of these things and I’m very happy.
“Was it a big move for me to become the first-choice striker? It’s the most important thing.
“It’s (moving to England) always a difficult challenge. It’s the most competitive league in the world.
“Yes, it’s physical. And it’s the league with the most teams who can win the title.”
