Writing via his Twitter handle, @ yesterday, the president said ensuring protection of lives of Nigerians remains his primary responsibility.

The president travelled to Jordan and Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, last Thursday, to attend the World Economic Forum and Investment Summit.

Zamfara has been experiencing attacks by bandits which have cost many lives, including 50 killed last Tuesday.

The attacks have triggered protests and criticisms, with many Nigerians accusing Buhari of not doing enough to address the situation.

But, the president said he has been following developments in the state, and has promised that his administration will tackle the menace.

“It is ridiculous and unfair to suggest I’m not concerned about the situation in Zamfara, or doing anything about it. Ensuring the protection of the people of Nigeria is one of my primary responsibilities and functions. No other issue dominates my attention as much.

“We are fully determined to tackle this challenge ferociously, until the remorseless killers are crushed and utterly defeated.

We’ve deployed security agents to all the areas currently under attack, and we are constantly fine-tuning and escalating our security strategy.

“I’m constantly in touch with the security chiefs, and receive regular briefings on the situation in Zamfara and across the country. Let me assure that we will continue to do everything to motivate and equip them to respond effectively to all our security challenges.

“I want to appeal to Nigerians that we should not politicise this tragic situation in Zamfara.

How can I be indifferent to the senseless killings and kidnapping of my fellow citizens by bandits, and the deep trauma and impoverishment that these attacks inflict on them?”

  1. Yes, my beloved PMB, you are my man anytime, anyday. I believe in your sincerity, your honesty and your very rare courage to take very difficult but often painful decisions that other past leaders could not take mainly because they lacked that moral wherewithal to so do. My beloved PMB, protection of lives and property is the least every Nigerian, including your morbid haters(because you stopped their means of livelihood-looting of the country’s resources) expect from you though I have no doubt that you are very capable of delivering , especially with the overwhelming support Nigerians gave to you this time around.
