An Osun State socio-political group, the Ifesowapo Society, has said that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is eminently qualified to lead Nigeria when the presidential ticket is zoned to the South in 2023.
The president of the group, Samuel Jegede, who spoke with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, said Tinubu’s political credentials and achievements are already speaking for him.
He said the APC national leader has eloquently sent a message to Nigerians that the nation can and will survive despite myriads of challenges facing her by the sterling performance of successive political administrations in Lagos State since 1999, foundation of which he noted was laid by Tinubu.
According to him, Tinubu’s contribution to the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as president cannot be quantified.
He said the South West has always provided visionary leadership for Nigeria since the days of the defunct Western Region, when the late sage, Obafemi Awolwo, was a trailblazer to the admiration of other regions.
Jegede, therefore, charged South West governors to promote good governance and set the pace for their colleagues in other geo-political zones and thus make the region a first choice for leadership, when it is the turn of the South to produce the president in 2023.
